Dominic Cummings

So now we understand from Dominic Cummings that he was willing to put his wife, his small child, other motorists, cyclists and pedestrians at risk while driving his car 30 miles to test his eyesight. And yet he drove his family from London to Durham because he was concerned about their safety. Risible  hypocrisy. Rules are for the little people.

After the PM’s appalling briefing in defence of Cummings

Good government and incompetent government

Do politicians get any more stupid than Priti Patel?

The woman who thought it would help the Brexit negotiations to emphasise that Ireland could encounter food shortages revealed that she didn’t know the difference between terrorism and  counterterrorism as brilliantly exposed by Michael Spicer

On the 11 April during the daily coronavirus briefing she declared the number of tests carried out was

It would seem the correct number was 334,974

During the same briefing Priti Vacant tried to deflect the blame for the lack of PPE from the government onto the public. I’m sure members of the Civil Service will recognise that characteristic behaviour. It’s probably best described by an expert:

Being vile and thick makes for a nasty combination.

Coronavirus: lack of preparedness

Following an investigation by the Times newspaper it would seem that the lazy lying coward missed five Cobra meetings. This on top of the failure to join the EU in an effort to obtain essential PPE and ventilators shows how crminally negligent the uk government has been.  Lives have been lost because the government failed to act on clear warnings about the effect of this virus. We really have a situation where we have lions led by donkeys. No doubt when this has all subsided we will have another Hillsborough style whitewash supported by the right wing press.

The clown Johnson showed his irresponsibility by attending the England Wales rugby match on the 7 March 2020. As reported in the Express under the headline

’Boris Johnson braves coronavirus outbreak with pregnant fiancee to support England’

No doubt the Brexiters will love him for his ‘bravery’

Coronavirus: test, test, test says the WHO

and what does the uk do?

Coronavirus one month on

So here we are one month on since my last post and the UK is heading for in the region of 40,000 deaths. The Tory government is trying to  put the blame on the public for not following instructions, doctors and nurses for negligent use of PPE, Public Health England and one of the goats that wandered in to LLandudno. It would seem that the lazy, lying coward of a Prime Minister has survived the virus unlike many of the front line NHS, care home and transport staff that his party have thrown under a bus. On Thursday I will go out on the street again to applaud the front line staff. However, as I look around I wonder how many of those partaking in the event voted Tory. Below is a link showing the Tory MPs cheering after blocking a pay rise for the NHS:

Coronavirus

Since the government won’t tell us the methodology behind the forecasts for coronavirus I’ve used a simple Gaussian distribution to estimate the number of people infected and the percentage of the population based on a peak in 12 weeks and a starting number of 10,000 as stated in the PMs broadcast on 12th March 2020. I wanted to have some idea of the probability of picking up the virus during a visit to hospital for chemo. The government states it will protect vulnerable people. How exactly? As the probability of picking up the virus in hospital increases paying for chemo at home is my survival strategy.

Prostate cancer treatment and politics

It would seem that the three amigos, the lying coward Boris Johnson and his two medical advisors have thrown the elderly and vulnerable under a bus. I’m midway through six chemotherapy sessions which will end in May. Without chemo I have a life expectancy of about three years. The chemo may give me an extra 22 months providing I have it now while ‘hormone sensitive’. Unfortunately, the UK government, uniquely, wants 60% of the UK population to be infected with covid-19 to build up immunity in the population. If I leave home the chance of me avoiding the disease and then surviving is pretty low. If I stop the chemotherapy I lose a potential 22 months of life.

The position of the the Tory government is extraordinary. Their plan is to allow the virus to kill off in the region of 400,000 people assuming 60% infection and 1% fatalities or about 1 in every 200 people. In China, at the time of writing there have been 3,177 deaths (www.worldometers.info/coronavirus) from a population of close 1.5 billion, about 2 in every million. Taiwan has only 50 cases and  one death. These countries have tackled the virus at source and have contained it. The UK government is trying to save the economy not its people, (https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/11/world/europe/economy-britain-coronavirus.html, paywall). Experimenting on a population, now when did we last hear of a government doing that?
