I am currently undergoing treatment for advanced (metastatic) prostate cancer which was diagnosed late last year. I am posting this to try to prevent other men finding themselves terminally ill. Prostate cancer is common, has few symptoms and there is no screening for it in the UK. Check your family history for prostate and breast cancer (they are related). All men over 55 (my random number – check with a GP) should have an annual PSA test and preferably an MRI scan as the PSA test is not reliable. My PSA was normal about three years before I encountered spinal pain and by then the genie was out of the bottle. Please don’t ignore this warning as it might just save your life. Pass this message on to at least two men that you know.
